    Swim Practice Request

    Dear Waves Parents-

Thank you so much for your support and for such an awesome season so far!  We had a fantastic time at the meet this weekend, and I can't thank you enough for your participation and volunteerism!

Our coaches are Outstanding!  They have MANY years of experience swimming & coaching and have a genuine desire to see our children improve at each meet.   Because of the high ratio of children to coaches, our coaches are focused on getting a large number of swimmers practiced at each meet and look for an overall increase in skill.  We are so fortunate that Coaches Mark, Kyle and Jon will work with individual children as needed -- I have seen them get in the pool many times or pull someone aside for specific coaching advice.  However, as parents we really need to remember that this is not a "swim lesson" session.  Our coaches need our support, and we have theirs.

We have also been asked to refrain from coaching our own children during the practice.  I know there have been times when I wanted to walk up to my kids and make corrections, but the best time for me (okay, any of us!) to make those corrections is AFTER practice when the coaches have dismissed them.   The coaches have assured me that while our children may not perform their strokes perfectly the entire time, it is a process, and the coaches will help them make steady improvement.

If you feel your swimmer needs some specific work on a certain skill, Coach Mark welcomes the input, but as lead parent I am requesting you wait until after the practice is done and talk to the coaches about it instead of interrupting them in the middle of the session.  You are always welcome to talk to me if I'm on deck or Cindy Andrews, our Rec Specialist and we will get the word to the coaches.

Thank you so much for your understanding and support in this issue!

Looking forward to another great week of swim!!
