TAAF Information
Below is some information about TAAF.
TAAF is not a part of our regular swim season. You have to register separately at the Rec Center in order to swim in this meet. Call the Rec Center at 281-210-3950 and register by THIS FRIDAY, June 24th. The cost is $25. After that, Cindy will get you registered for the actual meet. However, even if your swimmer does NOT register for the TAAF meet he or she may still attend swim practices with the team.
Coach Kyle is the TAAF coach this year and he is encouraging you all to participate! The three Township teams (Hurricanes, Riptides and Waves) combine to form one Woodlands Team for TAAF. The regional TAAF meet is Sat, July 16th in Texas City. You will be responsible for your own transportation.
Practices will remain at Forestgate until July 11th - then they will change to Lakeside Pool in Alden Bridge. ** Please note that Lakeside practices are Monday through Thursday with pool closure on Friday. **

What is TAAF Texas Amateur Athletic Federation
TAAF is an entirely different governing organization from NWAL. TAAF is part of the Games of Texas and is not confined to swimming. Each year a Regional Swim Meet is held at several sites across the State of Texas. This year the Regional Meet will return to the Texas City Aquatics Center (near Galveston). If a swimmer qualifies in the top three or four spots (depending on the number of meet entries), the swimmer is invited to attend the State Games, held in Waco, Texas.
The State Games are run similar to a mini Olympics with an opening ceremonies march through the stadium of all the athletes participating in many sports. If a swimmer qualifies at the State Games, then they are invited to the Nationals held next time in San Diego, California.
How does TAAF have anything to do with my swimmer?
If your swimmer wants to swim in the Regional TAAF Meet, then they must Register at the Recreation Center and pay an additional $25 fee. Swimmers may enter and swim in up to three events (which for TAAF INCLUDES relays, unlike NWAL ). The three Woodlands Township teams (the Hurricanes, Waves and Riptides ) are merged to form one large TAAF team. Practices will be held at Lakeside pool this season.
The T.A.A.F. Region I Swimming Championship Meet is open to all swimmers ages 17 & under with a T.A.A.F. Card number. All swimmers must have a T.A.A.F. Card number to participate. (note from Kristine -- I believe the coaches will take care of getting the TAAF card number once you have told them you will swim in the TAAF meet.) Entries received without the T.A.A.F. card number are ineligible. When you indicate your attendance for this meet before the deadline your swimmers will registered with TAAF. All 15-17 swimmers must swim at the regional meet to go to state unless their absence is pre-approved by the meet director. These swimmers may advance to the state meet even if they are not in the top 2. Swimmers 18 and over do not swim at regionals, however they must register at the regional meet to swim state meet.
Individual swimmers, ages 14 and under, may enter a maximum of three (3) events, this includes relays. 15 –17 ag
