    Time Trials Sat May 11th

"Time Trials” is our first meet of the season.

It is not a dual meet where we swim against another team, but a swim meet where we swim “against” ourselves.   The only difference is there will be NO relays.

Be on the look-out for an email later today detailing HOW to sign your child up for this meet through our website.

The purpose of Time Trials is two-fold:

1 – It gives the swimmer the mandatory seed time (completion time) required for entry into a dual meet. Each swimmer MUST have a seed time in order to swim in any other meet this season.  The seed time is also required for each stroke a swimmer will swim throughout the season.  We can not use last year’s time, so a new time must be recorded during time trials.

2 – It is an opportunity for our team to run a meet using equipment and procedures that have been stored away since last summer.  It also helps us to make sure the sign-ins, ready bench areas and volunteers are practiced and ready to go for the first Dual meet.
Time Trials will take place at Forestgate Pool, Saturday, May 11th.

    Following is the schedule:
6:45am – 7:15am - Check-in for swimmers.  Swimmers MUST check in with the age group parents under the pavilion BEFORE 7:15 am or be scratched from the meet.  It is SOOOOOO important that they are checked in on time.  I know this time is EARLY, but there needs to be time for the meet clerk and coaches to make any changes before the meet starts.  During check-in, your child will receive his or her event numbers.  Usually this is written on their arm in Sharpie so they won’t forget.

7:15am – Team Photo.  This will be on the pool deck so be ready to line up at 7:15 and the photo will be shot as soon as everyone is lined up.

7:40am (or directly after photos)  - 8:10am – Warm ups.  This is lead by the coaches by age group.  Please listen to the announcements for your swimmer’s warm up time.

8:30am – Meet begins.  We will start lining up age groups BEFORE the meet starts so we can start the meet on time (or possibly early.)  Again, please listen to the announcements for your swimmer’s event.   We finish the meet when all of the swimmers are done.  For this meet I anticipate around noon, but it could be longer.  A regular dual meet usually lasts until around 2:00 or 2:30pm.

    We need your help!!!

Please visit the website and volunteer for the meet.  Soon an email will come to you detailing what each volunteer position entails.  There is NO experience required and you will QUICKLY learn.  :)  Lead Volunteer parents will host a short meeting before the beginning of the meets for volunteers and give you a quick overview of what you will be doing.
From the website home page click on the left margin “Swim Meets” , the meet (in this case, Time Trials), then the “V” and all the volunteer needs will pop up.  You will see that we need many parent volunteers to run the meet!  That doesn’t include our awesome officials and other lead parents who have already committed.  We CAN NOT run the meet without your help!!  Our kids are counting on us to keep the meet going smoothly.  Waves families have always been very active and involved in our team and that is why our team is so GREAT!!
If you have any questions, please contact Kristine Marlow, Heather Monroe or Janet Beckman.   Our email addresses can be found on the parent roster on the website.

We are looking forward to an awesome Time Trial Meet!!!
