    TAAF Important Information

     Hi Everyone,

Here is an email with lots of information you need to know about the Regional Meet on Saturday, July 13th and the State Meet.  Please read the entire email and for more information you can also read the attached TAAF Meet document.

    REGIONAL MEET ENTRIES

The most important thing you need to know is that the drop dead deadline to sign up for your events is this Tuesday by the end of practice - which means NOON.  Not 1pm or 3pm.  End of practice Tuesday is FINAL!!!   Coach Russell and I need to create the relays and submit the entries to the meet director by 5pm on Tuesday so that's not much time.  If you come to me on Wednesday and say, "I forgot to sign up," I'm sorry, but unfortunately there is NOTHING I will be able to do to get you into the meet.  So don't waste time - sign up on Monday and save both of us some stress.

When you sign up, please indicate whether or not you are planning to attend the State Meet in Corpus Christi.   We will create relays based on who is available to go to States.

If you did not swim on a Summer League team (i.e. you swam on Junior swim team or have just joined) you need to be timed at practice so we can submit a seed time for your events.  Please see Coach Russell, Coach Kyle or Kallie and let us know and we will take care of it.

REGION 1 MEET - REGIONAL MEET - SATURDAY, JULY 13th

Location:  LCISD Natatorium - 5021 Airport Road, Rosenberg, TX  77471

There are 2 sessions for this meet.  Note: There will be one full hour between the end of Session 1 and the start of Session 2.

    Session 1:  10 & Under.   Warm-up:  7:30 a.m.   Start: 8:30 a.m.

    Session 2:  11 & Over.      Warm-up: 11:00 a.m.  Start: 12:30 p.m.

Ready Bench:  The morning session will use a Ready Bench area for lining up the swimmers.  The afternoon session will have the swimmers report directly to the blocks for their event.  Just as with Invitationals, parents are responsible for making sure their swimmers get to the ready bench in a timely fashion.

Volunteers:  According to the meet document, each team is responsible for providing 2 timers for each session.  I'll start a sign up sheet this week.  I really urge you to volunteer so that this duty doesn't fall on the shoulders of a few.  Many hands make light work. The more people who sign up, the less there will be to do.

Setup:  This meet location has an outdoor setup so bring your tents, chairs, coolers, games, and whatever else you usually bring to a regular dual meet.

State Entries:  Right now the meet director has indicated that there are enough Region 1 registrations to allow the top 5 finishers to go on to the State Meet.  This could change so be sure to ask the day of the meet.  If you qualify for States, you need to declare your intentions by the end of the Regional meet.  If you do not want to go to the State Meet in Corpus, please let them know because they will bump up the next qualified swimmer.  If you do want to go to States, you will need to declare and pay your entry fees right then and there.  State Meet fees are:  $7.00 per individual event and $28.00 per relay event (price for whole team).  The entry fees for States must be paid in CASH so bring CASH.  No checks will be accepted.

Hotel Reservations in Corpus:  If you are even thinking about going to Corpus Christi, I urge you all to make your hotel reservations now.  It will get crazy after the regional meet.  Just make sure you are able to cancel the reservation.  I'm not sure exactly where the State Games are, but you can find all the information you need at www.taaf.com

    TEXT ALERTS

The best way for us to get immediate information to you (i.e. practice cancelled due to weather) is through the text alert system we have set up.  All you need to do to subscribe to receive messages is text the message @taaf to the number 512-865-4986.  You may then be asked to provide your name.  That's it.  Then if Coach Russell or I have some important message for the TAAF team we can send it right to your phone.

Okay, thanks for reading.  The most important thing is to remember to sign up for the Regional meet.  Monday is best, Tuesday is your last chance.

I will be at the pool all day Monday and Tuesday if you have questions.

    Thanks

    Kallie Rees
