FIRST HOME MEET!!!!!  wOODLANDS WAVES VS. WINDROSE

    Here is a timeline:

    6:45 - 7:15am - Check-in

    7:10 - 7:40am - Warmups

8:15 - Team Meeting / Line up for first events

Our meet tomorrow is against Windrose.  We swam against Windrose last year, and while we beat them in our dual meet, we lost to them in divisionals!  We can do this Waves!!!  This is our first home meet so be sure to come early, sport your red spirit wear and stay late for take down.  Remember there is always BYOAB in the pavillion after clean up and take down.   (AB - Adult Beverage).  Our awesome tattoos are for sale $.25/ea or 5 for $1.00.

    Volunteers!!

Sign in, click on the V button next to the swim meet and VOLUNTEER!!  As you can see we have MANY slots that still need to be filled.  We appreciate everyone who has stepped up.  We can't run the meet without you!!

    Check-In!!

Your swimmer MUST be checked in by 7:15am!! Please check in with coach Lindsay and Coach Morgan first!!!!!  ( you can send one person for all your swimmers) then go see your age group parent!  Give yourself enough time to check in.   We can't thank the families ENOUGH who make it to the meet to check in on time.  If you've ever worked check-in before, you know that scratch time can be a very intense few minutes as we rebuild relays and scratch swimmers who are no-shows only to have them check in right as we are handing the data to the clerk!!  The computer clerk, coaches, officials, and everyone else on the team thanks you for your assistance with this!!

    Relays!!

You can check the BINDER at practice today to see if your child will be swimming in a relay.  Coaches carefully build these relay teams.   If you are part of a relay, WE NEED YOU!!!  Please let me or Janet know if you plan to be at the meet but can't swim in a relay.  There is also a list in the binder that you can sign to let us know your swimmer should not be entered in a relay.    The other three swimmers on that relay are counting on you!!   A no-show during check-in will result in being SCRATCHED from the relay.

    Visit the Coaches!!

During the swim meet, swimmers are encouraged to visit the coach's tent (with their time, if they can get it from the scribe) immediately following their race for feedback and encouragement!!  The coaches are there for our kids and LOVE to talk to them individually after their heats.

Personal note from your Team Representatives...

Janet and I would like to take a moment to address a few important issues regarding the rest of the season.  As many of you know, we have experienced difficulties with our meet programs and web site.  We have been just as frustrated as you all.  We appreciate those of you have been patient and understanding even when your child was not able to swim.

What many of you don't know is there are (well were until this week) three steps and three programs we must go through to qualify each swimmer for every event they are timed for.  It is a process that takes some time, and 2 of those 3 programs have been updated (one version was sent out to update last night!), or have shut down at numerous times.   We have done our best to keep up with this, and please know several teams including our three Woodlands teams have experienced several problems.  This is something that is out of our control but we have kept on top of as fast as and as best as we could.

We have heard and understand several of you were frustrated with last weeks relays.  While we completely understand your position, please know the computer drew from the fastest times of those swimmers who had "real" times and not custom times.  Meaning it selected swimmers that were at time trials.  From there it drew from the next fastest times.  For those who asked us about it we are glad you understand and for those who still have questions please feel free to talk to us.  Also, rest assured, your coaches choose the relays and where your swimmer will swim.

We continue to work out these kinks and cannot tell you how much we appreciate your support in these matters.  We too are moms of swimmers and between us we have 5 girls under the age of 11!   We have missed dinners with our families, tucking in our little ones, and family time in general these last few months.  We stepped up to this position because we love this team and the family environment it has always encompassed.  (Some of you may be surprised to know that myself, and Nicole Gauthier - your Volunteer Coordinator actually live in HURRICANE country - but love the Waves).  We love this team, our amazing volunteers, (some who put in over 20 hours each week - or more!), and our families.  We are so thankful to our daughters and our husbands for picking up the slack at home and eating take out three nights a week.

We look forward to the rest of the season and please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions!  This is a great team!!!  See you at the pool.

Good Luck to all of our WAVES this weekend!  Have a SUPER meet!
