SUMMER THUNDER INVITATIONAL

The deadline to sign up for Summer Thunder (the mid season invitational held June 8th/9th) is this Saturday, May 31st.  We have to submit the entries on Sunday, June 1st so by the end of the meet on Saturday you will need to 1.) Sign up your swimmer online and select their events, and 2.) Submit payment to Janet Beckman or Heather Monroe. There is also a large envelope up at the pool during practice that we are using to collect payment.        

Here are some things to consider:

1. The 11 & Over 100 Free and 100 IM are held on Sunday, June 8th during the 10 & Under meet.

2. The "3 Event Rule" applies to this meet.  This rule states that if your swimmer qualifies in 3 events, he/she is eligible to swim any or all other events regardless of their time.  However, the website is not geared to allow this, so if you would like to add events for your swimmer you must email me ([email protected]) or Heather Monore ([email protected]) and let us know what events you'd like to add.

3. The cost for the meet is $5.00 / individual event and $3.00 / relay.  We will do our best to make as many relays as possible. If your child does not get on a relay, we will refund your $3.00.  Swimmers can compete in up to 6 individual events and 2 relays total.  If we do not get your payment by Saturday, your child will NOT be entered into the meet.

So far about 11 swimmers have signed up. To see if your swimmer qualified, go to the Waves website, then go to meets.  Click on the swimmer icon next to Summer Thunder.  Select your swimmer, and click add entry.  If the times show up in blue, then your swimmer qualified.  If they are in red, they did not.  They are still eligible to qualify at this week's meet against Rivershire, so if you think you'd like to go, come prepared to sign up and pay. If your child has already qualified and you know you'd like to go, please don't wait until the last minute to sign up - do it now - because it is a very fast turnaround to get the entries submitted.

We encourage you to consider going to these invitational meets as they are a lot of fun and can be very motivating for young swimmers.
