    Reminders From Your Coaches

    Waves Parents,

Just a few reminders from your coaches...

We've got the season off to a great start and we are excited for school to get out for the summer! That means more swimming time for us! We are very happy with the win last weekend and we're excited to take on Spring Creek this weekend at home! Bring your game faces!

We would like to remind all parents and swimmers that while we would prefer you wear a WAVES cap at meets you are not required to wear one. We do have Waves caps you can purchase for $10. Swimmers can wear any cap they want at practice and at meets, but it is important that we look like a unified team at meets. Side note- if you do wear a cap that is affiliated with another team at a meet you can get DQ'ed (even if it's a UT cap).

We would also like to encourage everyone to volunteer, we need all of your help to run this well oiled machine! And a big shout out to the parents that volunteer every weekend, we couldn't do it without you!

If you have not noticed yet, we have set a pattern for practices (by the week). These plans will vary slightly and every age group will be different.
Tuesday and Wednesday: Work on what we saw we needed the most help with in the previous meet (dependent on age group, ex: 7-8 won't work on flip turns)
Thursday: Longer, harder sets. Working on some IM and longer freestyle sets for the older groups
Friday: Sprints, starts, turns, finishes, relay starts (things to get ready for the meet)

We would also like to remind you that summer league is meant to be super FUN! Please encourage your kids to ask questions about their strokes during practice, there are so many of them and only three of us. This is a swim team, not a learn to swim program; but we definitely encourage the kids to ask questions about their strokes so we can make simple tweaks here and there. You can sign up for private lessons through the township if you want them.

We have had a lot of requests to spend more time working on dives, therefore, this Friday will be an ALL DIVE day (with a warm up first). If you know your child needs work on dives please make your best effort to bring them to practice on Friday!

    Thank you,
    Coach Jessie
