Waves - Time Trials Volunteers
Dear Waves Families:
My name is Nicole Gauthier and I am your Volunteer Coordinator...and I am a parent of swimmers, just like you. It take a TON of volunteers to run any swim meet, especially a home meet. Saturday is Time Trials at our home pool and you'll hear more about the details from Janet and Heather later. For now...VOLUNTEERS!
Each family is asked to volunteer AT LEAST two sessions for EACH SWIMMER. So for example, I have 3 swimmers so my family will volunteer at least 6 sessions. There are two sessions at each meet,so if everyone does their share, we will be covered.
Please go to the waves swim team page, log in, click on the calendar, then on the V on the meet dates. This is where you volunteer for each meet individually.
Here is a description of each volunteer opportunity:
Age Group Parent(s) - THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN. We are looking for age group parents to greet the swimmers in the morning to check them in, line them up as they get prepared for ready bench and walk them to ready bench. We are asking that the same parents volunteer for the majority of the season especially for 6 and under and 7-8 year olds. This is not an all day babysitting job. Parents are responsible for their own children but there is not enough room for all parents to walk their swimmers to ready bench.
Ready Bench Helpers - we have our leaders for the two sessions of ready bench, we need additional volunteers to ensure that the younger swimmers stay in order on the benches and on deck while they are waiting to swim. And, great spot because you can always see the pool
Timer - three timers per lane...in the shade on the deck to see the swimming and there are 3 timers per lane so you do not have to worry about getting it wrong
Scribe - one scribe per lane that writes down the time for the 3 timers. in the shade SEATED on the deck to see the swimming
Runner - picks up the time sheets from the scribes and delivers them to the computer clerk for entry
Parking Attendant - early morning to help keep the parking lot open for those with parking passes only
Meet set up - set up blocks, ready bench, on deck tents etc. at 6 pm the day before one of three home meets
Meet clean up - take down blocks, ready bench, on deck tents etc. as soon as the home meet is complete
Ribbons - place labels on ribbons for swimmers at the end of the meet and take the ribbon box home over the weekend to file ribbons for swimmers to pick up at practice on Tuesday at the pool
We are still in need of volunteers for Time Trials this weekend. It is a great time to learn what to do when it is only our team in the pool.
Thank you so much and please let me know if you have any questions,
Nicole Gauthier
