Entry deadline extended - Note from coaches

Waves parents, due to several of our area swimmers abscence during time trials, we ( the Canes and Waves) have decided to extend our entry deadline.  With over half of our swimmers not attending time trials for the duration, and after entering almost 700 entries for NT, we have extended the deadline until tomorrow at 6pm. If you would like to email me your entries this week only - I am happy to sign up your swimmer. If you have emailed in your child's stroke preference, I have them listed and am currently working on their entries.  After this weekend, all swimmers will have times (either official from a dual meet or a time trials meet) and you should be able to sign your swimmer up for any event they are qualified to swim.

With so many entries, we decided to hold onto the binder for this evenings practice and will have it out for Thursday and Friday's practices.  Don't forget Kona Ice tomorrow at practice and individual pictures will be taken on Friday at the pool.  The photographers will set up at 4:30 pm and be there as long as good light is available. Please come when it is convenient for you, you do not have to come at your child's practice. Be sure if you have your team suit to wear it!  Also, please do not forget to volunteer, for this meet and for others through out this season!  We have such a great group this year, I am so glad to be apart of great new group of volunteers.

Last Weeks volunteers of the week - OUR READY BENCH CREW!  They will be recognized at our next home meet!  Way to go guys!  Thanks for helping out the Riptides and our fellow WT swim team!  So proud of our team pulling together for them when they needed us!

A note from our coaching staff tonight.  Starting tomorrow, Coach Spoon has decided to allow parents on deck to video their swimmer in particular strokes and get feed back from the coaches.  This is a great opportunity for you and your swimmer to look at how they are progressing.  Coach Spoon or Coach Lindsay will let you know when that time is in practice, so please do not approach the deck before that time.  Please keep in mind that there are several swimmers and only 3 coaches so we ask that you respect their time as well as the time of other swimmers and parents.  This will continue throughout the season on Thursdays and Fridays unless otherwise stated.  Please also keep in mind that we are here to encourage our children to get better at the sport of swimming and to help them grow in a sport they all enjoy.  These "critiques" are only to help your swimmer.  If your swimmer is not comfortable with this, please do not feel that this is mandatory or necessary.

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE FROM COACH SPOON: IF YOU ARE A YEAR ROUND SWIMMER (SWIM USA) YOU MAY NOT SWIM IN A NON NWAL SANCTIONED MEET FROM 5/7/16-6/21/16. YOU MAY PRACTICE WITH YOUR USA TEAM BUT SWIMMING IN A USA SANCTIONED MEET DURING NWAL SEASON IS GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION FOR A SWIMMER AND/OR A TEAM.  IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF THIS RULING PLEASE SEE COACH ASAP!

I cannot thank you all enough for your patience during these entries and these first few weeks.  We will be sending out emails tomorrow regarding the meet against the Hurricanes.  I will also be sending out a link for a blood drive next week for Debbie Arnold's grandson who recently had a blood transfusion. If you are a good candidate to donate I cannot encourage you enough to go and give blood.

Thank you all again for being such wonderful parents, and volunteers.  Waves truly are the best.

    Go Waves.
