    Windrose Meet the Saturday/Coach's Corner

Good evening Waves families!  Hope everyone is enjoying their night off and is ready to return to practice tomorrow.  Coach Spoon will  be working on several things to help prepare us for our meet this Saturday against Windrose.  Please remember the following house keeping items:

Ribbon Box and Relay Binder - will be at the pool tomorrow.

Check in starts at 6:45.  You must check in FIRST with your coaches and then your age group parent.  Please do not be late to check in - we know it's early - but this is summer swim!!!!  At that time please make note if you are in a relay.  We had several people leave last week before the relays and it's a scramble to fill those spots!  Also if you are not in a free relay at the end we encourage you to stay.  The races go very quickly and its such a great boost for all of our swimmers to have the entire team around the pool!  Even if you have to start packing up please encourage your swimmer to stay and cheer loudly for all of our Waves swimmers!  The louder the better!!!

Warm Ups will start at 7:15.  Please keep in mind that both teams this weekend are very large and we will need to use all of our time efficiently so after your swimmer signs in, 10 and unders should be ready by the pool at 7:10!

Chik-fil-a - Yes they will be there.

Parking - please park along the street and not in the neighborhoods.  Only officials and those with parking passes should park in our lot.  If you do not have a parking pass for our lot, please be respectful of this.

Volunteers - We are still in need of volunteers at Ready Bench second shift and for Computer Table second shift.

Sportsmanship - This will be addressed more in length by Coach Spoon ( following) but please keep in mind that Windrose swimmers and families are our guests.  Remind your children of this before the meet and be sure they are welcoming on the playground area, at the pool, at ready bench, wherever. We have such awesome Waves families and Windrose is a great team -  I know we can make them feel welcome!

Clean Up - Please be sure to clean up your area and just take time to check the area around you.  Thank you to all who stayed after time trials and the meet last weekend against the Canes.  It doesn't take long if everyone will pitch in.   After clean up some us stick around under the pavilion and bring adult beverages.

Heat Sheet -  You can now print your very own heat sheet - RIGHT NOW!  Yes.  When you log in, click on swim meets in the red banner area.  Find our meet against Windrose, there you will see a 'Heat Sheet' option.  Click on this link,  print and bring to the meet with you.  Any changes made Saturday morning, will obviously not be reflected on this sheet.  Age group parents - you can print these out if you like to line up your swimmers for their events.  The icon marked with a 1st is where updates and scores will be.  You can click on last weeks meet and see all of the times and scores from the Canes meet.

SPIRIT DAY - Don't forget to show your Waves pride and wear your Waves team shirt to school tomorrow!

    COACH's CORNER -

Congrats to all of our swimmers on a great meet last weekend.  Congrats?  Didn't we lose?  Well yes, or did we?  While we may have lost in overall points, do you know that several of our swimmer's qualified for Trinity and Ponderosa!! Over 1/2 of our swimmers had personal bests!  We also had a team record broken - don't know who?  Listen to find out on Saturday morning before our national anthem and check the record board this weekend!!  And talk about taking what a coach teaches you and maximizing that lesson?  Did you see the boys 9-10 free style relay at the end?  Crazy come from behind "olympic style reach for the wall under the water" finish!  If you saw it -you know if was nothing but AWESOME (if you didn't there is a video that exists) - That's what coach has told you this season would be about.  Personal bests.  Your swimmer becoming a better swimmer because of the competition.  Keep track of your time's each week and you will see how you ( or your swimmer) is pushed to swim at their highest potential.  "No one ever got a personal best at practice.  They got it competing" - Coach Spoon.

Amazing display of sportsmanship by all of our swimmers last week.  Each event coach's encourage our swimmers to stay in the pool while the last swimmer is finished.  Also congratulating the other swimmers on a great race is something our Waves swimmers are starting to do without being prompted!  Our swimmers have class!

Don't forget to visit your coaches after your race.  They are there for YOU!!!!

This weekend will be a tough meet - Windrose is a big team and highly competitive....however they are going to be the reason we are even better next week.  This is going to be one exciting meet!!!!!

If you can find a "Monroe" - they will have tatoos early Saturday morning to apply to your cheek!

Thanks to all of our awesome Waves families and volunteers.  And as always

    Go WAVES!!!!!!!!!
