WLW vs. NMH and Sprint Sizzler

Happy Sunday Waves swimmers and families and HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!  Results from yesterdays meet are up under league results. Thanks to our amazing officials and volunteers who stayed and cleaned up and officiated for the duration of the meet.  We know a lot of you were eager to get home, and with so many questions and concerns arising minute to minute your coaches and myself discussed possible situations through out the meet.  At a certain point it was decided that our families needed to get home and the decision would not affect the outcome of the meet.  We know a lot of kids were disappointed, however we will be running relays in practice this week - so be ready!!!

While we are on the topic of relays, if you are in a relay please let me, or Nicole or Angie know if you have to leave the meet for any reason. The main reason for having the relay binder is to be sure we have swimmers in relays who are willing to stay, however we understand, especially with this weekend, that things just happen!!  "Fixing" relays is more than just finding a substitute swimmer!  Also going forward, if you will not be able to attend a meet you have already registered for, please text Nicole, Angie or myself prior to 7am if possible.  I will list our numbers at the bottom.  We know this week was unexpected and not "of the norm" and none of you were able to review relay binders and only had a day to review meet entries, however we had several swimmers not show, or email, and it greatly impacted several of our relays.  Thank you to those of you who did email/text us.  We hope you are all feeling better and/or are able to now get around without the help of canoes or rafts!

Don't forget to register ASAP for our next meet against Northampton!  Again deadline is this Tuesday at midnight.  Please remember to SAVE SAVE SAVE your entries!!!!  This is our last in division meet.  It is a home meet and while we understand next weekend will be a busy weekend and a very important one (Congratulations to all of our Wave family graduates however young or wise you may be) we need EVERYONE!!!!!!!  At our last home meet we only lost to last year's C1 Divisional champs Windrose by less than 50 points and would have possibly been closer had we not lost some of our swimmers because of the rain delay.  It may seem like a lot but 1st place is 7 points and 2nd is 5pts and so on...!  Relays are 7pts for 1st and 2nd is 3pts so even having more than one relay team is helpful!!!  You can see how it all starts to add up!  I have heard we will match up well against the Baracudas so lets get out there and beat those CUDAS!

Keep in mind if you want to qualify for a post season invitational you must have an OFFICIAL TIME in that stroke in an NWAL santioned meet.  That means an official time from a dual meet or Sprint Sizzler, no DQ and no Time Trial times.  You also must have one OFFICIAL TIME to qualify to swim a stroke at Divisionals  (This is a change from previous seasons, where you had to have 2 official times in a stroke.)  You have 2 remaining home meets (and Sprint Sizzler next weekend if you registered) to make these times.  Eligibility forms will be at the pool next week for Post Seasonal Invitationals (Trinity and Ponderosa) and for divisionals.

Sprint Sizzler entires are in and more information regarding this Invitational will go out later this week. If you are not swimming but would like to come see what an Invitational is like, this is a great opportunity and a fun one.  We have several mixed relays, with 2 boys and 2 girls in free and medley relays. Come cheer on your fellow Waves swimmers and check out some really great swimming!  Please remember if you have not paid, to place $ in our  family (Monroe) folder in the ribbon box or find me at practice on Tuesday.  Speaking of the ribbon box, not all the labels were done printing by the end of the IOST meet.  I will pick up the remaining ribbons from IOST next weekend at the Sprint Sizzler meet.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, to Kristine Hudanish and some Craft ladies for staying and doing the ribbons for our team.  We appreciate you so much!!!! Thanks also to Kristine for staying in and making several changes and updates for our team in an environment not as laid back as ours.  We are always so greatful for our Lead Official Glenn Bricken who is always willing to "let the kids swim!"

    One last item...

I want to say a personal thank you to all who have served or have family members currently serving to allow us to live in a truly free country. For those families who have lost service members, you have truly sacrificed the most.  We are so incredibly blessed to live in this great nation and are so thankful for all of those who voluntarily protect and defend all that this country was founded on every day.   Please take some time this weekend to remember why it is we have the freedom to swim with our great team each and every week.

    And as always...Go Waves!!

    See you at the pool
