Time Trial Sign up - Change in Practice Schedule

Good Afternoon Waves swimmers and families! A few quick notes from your coaches: This week your coaches will be focusing on all four strokes and preparing for time trials.  Last week was spent on building up some endurance and a little bit on dives.  That will also continue this week.  For the remaining evening practices, 11 year olds and up will all swim together in the 7-8 time slot.  There will be no 8-9 practices.  Coach Spoon has not yet combined practices for morning practices, he will decide that as the time nears.  If practice is canceled due to weather alerts, you will be sent a text from Remind 101.  If you have not registered for text services, please do so!  https://www.remind.com/join/waves201

Can you believe it is our second week of practice already and this Saturday is Time Trials?  If you have not yet registered for time trials please do so before Wednesday morning.  If you still have not registered your swimmer you need to log on to the web site and go to the meets section on the home page on the far left.  Select the swimmer icon.  From there you will select your swimmer and all of the events he/she wants to swim.  Again we highly encourage your swimmer to choose any stroke they MAY want to swim this summer!  At time trials you may swim all eligible individual events!  If you cannot be at time trials, please respond to this, and let me know which 3 individual events (maximum for dual meets) your swimmer wants to swim in their first meet.  I will need to assign them a time after time trials before you will be able to register them. I will need to get all times in by Monday evening so the earlier you can notify me the better.

If your swimmer is not at time trials, they will be given the slowest time from time trials in each event plus one second.  As soon as they swim in a dual meet and swim a clean race ( with no disqualification) they will be given an official time for the season.  Your swimmer must have a time from time trials in order to register for a dual meet on line.  If you are unsure if you will be at time trials, please register now and we can scratch your swimmer on Saturday.  It is a lot easier to scratch a swimmer than add.  We will also be running relays for practice.  If you are selected to swim a relay this Saturday, your relays will be posted on Friday at the latest.  Normally these will be posted on Thursdays.  If you are having trouble registering for time trials for some reason, please email ASAP!  There will be a binder at the pool on Thursday with all swimmers' individual events.  You will need to review this binder on Thursday.  For dual meets, this binder will be at the pool no later than Wednesdays.  It is your responsibility to check the entries each week to confirm they are correct.  If you have any questions regarding this, please ask!   PLEASE BE SURE YOU OR YOUR SWIMMER INITIALS THEIR EVENT ENTRIES!

An important note as we go forward into the season:

A swimmer must have swam in one dual meet and have an official time in a dual meet or an NWAL invitational in order to swim that event for divisionals.  PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU WANT TO BE IN A RELAY AT DIVISIONALS YOU MUST SWIM AND HAVE AN OFFICIAL TIME FOR THAT STROKE.  ie, if you want to swim the 200 free relay your swimmer must have a 50 free time in either a dual meet or an NWAL sanctioned invitational.  If you have any questions regarding this PLEASE ask me now or refer to the NWAL hand book on line.

If you have any questions regarding the registration process please let me know.  I am here to help.  We will send out more information regarding time trials, later this week!  If you have questions or concerns about volunteering, you can contact Angie DeMarco. [email protected]  If you are not going to be able to fill one of the slots you have previously signed up for, or if you have filled your requirements, please remove your name from the volunteer positions so they can be available for other families.  We appreciate all of our volunteers and could not do it with out you!

    It's about to get EXCITING!!!

    See you at the pool
